Mario Alvarez
Mario started his professional baseball career with the Los Angeles Dodgers signing as a short stop and was converted into a pitcher. In 2004, he began his professional career and pitched as high as AAA. Coach Mario was recognized as one of the top Dominican Pitching Prospects to come off the island with having one of the top 10 lowest ERA’s (1.24).
In addition to playing in the U.S., he also played professionally in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. He finished his career in California with an independent league team. After 10 years of playing, he decided to go in to coaching, sharing his passion and knowledge of the game with younger players.
Coach Mario has been impacting the baseball community since moving to the DMV in 2017. He has coached for several programs including DC Dynasty, Gatorball, Pitching Coach at Jackson-Reed, and Landon.
We are blessed to have Coach Mario serving as one of our Head 13U Coaches as well as our Program Pitching Instructor.
